Responsibilities
- In a safe and professional manner, using the proper protective equipment and / or hot line tools as required installs, removes, inspects, and maintains the various components of the transmission and distribution systems.
- Observes established safety procedures.
- Performs switching, secures permits, and provides blocking all in accordance with the company’s Energy Control system.
- Performs work aloft or on the ground on energized transmission and distribution facilities, including the installation and maintenance of streetlight equipment.
- Performs rigging such as moving, placing, hanging, or erecting structures, transformers, circuit breakers, switching devices, and machinery.
- Operates backhoes, tensioners, large aerial devices and other equipment necessary to perform the above duties.
- Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
Qualifications
- Satisfactory performance and experience as a Journeyman Lineworker Trainee-FS-Shift or Journeyman Lineman Trainee-FS and successful completion of a Trainee’s units of instruction at all levels for the Journeyman Lineworker-FS-Shift or Journeyman Lineman-FS position.
- Ability to obtain a valid commercial driver’s License within six (6) months.
- Working knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used to perform the above duties.
- Working knowledge and adherence to the provisions of the safety rules applicable to work performed.
- Thorough knowledge of the company’s Energy Control system.
- Working knowledge of computer-based systems pertaining to the job.
- Ability to interpret sketches, diagrams, and complex specifications.
- Ability to direct other employees.
- Strength and endurance to perform the above duties.
