Praecipio is looking for a Scrum Master to work with one of our key clients in their Agile at Scale transformation. This would be a contract to hire role after the initial 6 months with positive feedback from the client.
This role will be supporting key projects in the food and beverage industry. These teams are new to Agile and need support, guidance, and expertise in the Scrum practices, ceremonies, roles, and alignment to an Agile Release Train. This position will work directly with senior management, technical leads, and directly impacts key initiatives. The client is looking for a flexible but driven personality that can work with teams of various skills across the US, Europe, and India.
The majority of the work will be remote but some onsite visits are required to collaborate with the team for large planning events, key demos, or similar events. Client locations are in the greater Chicago area.
Responsibilities
- Understands Agile values and principles and can guide teams on how to use Agile/Scrum practices
- Ability to execute and lead sprint planning, sprint reviews, and support demos
- Guide delivery teams to self-organize and achieve objectives, without assigning or dictating the work.
- Provide support to the Product Owner and Development Team, and lead by example. This person should personify Scrum and Agile
- Facilitate discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution. Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved.
- Support Product Owner and Development Team by removing impediments and ensuring that progress can be made
- Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and information radiation.
- Support the Product Owner, especially with respect to story grooming and maintaining the product backlog
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks using Agile best practices and project data
- Arrange daily stand-ups, facilitate story grooming, coordinate sprint demos, planning, and retrospectives
- Align team activities and communications with the Agile Release Train
- Demonstrate sound judgment and strong reasoning skills as well as analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong Scaled Agile experience
- Must be six sigma black belt certified(non negotiable)
- 4-6 years of Scrum Master experience supporting software delivery teams
- 6-8 years of experience in a functional role associated with an information technology system development lifecycle (e.g. Project Management, Analysis, Design, Development, Quality Assurance, etc.)
- SAFe Scaled Agilist (SA) certification, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), and Certified Product Owner (CSPO) certifications
- Knowledge and application of facilitation techniques, servant leadership, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Experience with Agile PLM tools like JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, etc.
- Understands backlog management, sprint tracking, Scrum and Kanban-based metrics, task definition, story splitting.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Experience in sprint & release planning, running demos and retrospectives
- Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (diverse team sizes, organizations, cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc)
- Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum, including training, conferences, user groups, self-study, etc.
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games

Salary range: $105,000-$115,000
Please note the national salary range listed in the job posting reflects the new hire salary range across levels and U.S. locations that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s final level and final location. Also, this range represents base salary only and does not include the company bonus or benefits.
