Emergency Services Assistant

Qualifications or Skill Required:

• Two years related experience/education in the field of Case Management, Homeless Prevention or Social Services
• Experience working in a crisis setting and ability to respond appropriately in an emergency.
• Knowledge and/or experience in coordinating programs and services for individuals in crisis situations
• Must be a self- starter and assertive.
• Ability to work in stressful situations.
• Ability to work with computer spreadsheets (Excel) and word processing, general computer operation skills.
• Must have communication, customer service, writing, organizational, and problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to speak in front of a group and organize programs.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and willing to travel locally and metro areas.
• Completion of a satisfactory background check.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct initial interview with applicants, assess and verify client needs, determining eligibility for a variety of financial emergency assistance services.
• Assist homeless or at risk of homelessness individuals and families in stabilizing their housing situation.
• Provide enrollment, assessment, goal development, and program services with participants.
• Organize and maintain case files in a timely fashion and in accordance with professional practice.
• Provide participants with ongoing case management and support.
• Track and log applicable information and referrals given to clients.
• Enter information into THO and HMIS.
• Provide information to participants about Agency and Community resources.
• Maintain professional rapport with clients, peers, and other community service providers.
• Attend conferences, meetings and trainings as needed or requested.
• Solid understanding of requirements of grants, contracts and federal regulations
