JOB TITLE: Diagnostics Lab Technician CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Diagnostics DATE REVISED: 01/08/24
SUMMARY
A laboratory technician will provide technical support by performing various diagnostic testing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. They will also interact with research team members, and other departments as needed.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Reports to: Lab Supervisor
Supervises: Has no supervisory responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in daily functions of the laboratory
- Conduct assigned assays according to company SOPs
- Maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment
- Interact with lab personnel, as well as other departments within the company
- Work in a safe and productive manner with the guidelines established by policy and follow good laboratory practices
- Accountable for complying with the company handbook and all policies set by the company and delegated authority
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Preference given to applicants with prior laboratory experience, however training will be provided to right candidate.
- The ideal candidate has an interest in biology, livestock agriculture, or health science field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position will work in a laboratory, research farm, and office setting where they conduct experiments and analyze the results. Technicians and scientists who work with biosafety level 2 organisms must follow appropriate safety procedures.
Salary : $19 - $25
