Responsibilities
Responsible for assessing, planning, and providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy as assigned. The therapist collaborates within a multi-disciplinary setting with other PrairieCare staff to provide comprehensive treatment to the patients and families they serve.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary treatment team and partner with patients and their guardians
- Assess, plan, and implement psychotherapeutic services for patients of PrairieCare
- May work with children, adolescents, and adults with mental illness, and/or a combination of both, as assigned
- Provide a comprehensive range of therapy services to patients and families
- Provide individual and family psychotherapy, facilitate process groups
- Seek to enhance the functioning of patients and their families while positioning them well for the next chapter within their mental health journey
- Coordinate care with providers or other caregivers external to the treatment team upon admission and discharge, as relevant and appropriate
- Lend your therapy expertise to the treatment team and across the organization, as desired and as appropriate
- Continually engage in bidirectionally enriching clinical opportunities, projects, and experiences including those specific to context of diversity, inclusivity and equity
- Support other therapists and associate therapists as needed. Participate in case conferences and treatment team rounds
- Potentially supervise Master's level family therapy, counseling, or social work associate therapists or interns (based on qualifications)
- Attend required training seminars, group supervision, and regular staff meetings as appropriate
- Maintain clinical records in compliance with PrairieCare policies and regulatory standards
- Support quality assurance and peer review activities as assigned
- Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues in the program and broader PrairieCare
- Maintain confidentiality of client medical records according to policy and HIPAA rules
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely billing records per policy and program requirements
- Ensure compliance with program policies, external regulatory standards, and payer requirements
- Oriented and educated in providing person centered, trauma informed, culturally responsive care
- Participate in holds/restraints processes as required by patient safety needs and as trained
- Support new employee hiring by sitting in on selection committees and offering training and education as delegated or assigned
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social sciences. Eligible or nearing eligibility for current licensure in the State of Minnesota as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPCC) or Licensed Psychologist (LP). Will consider those with junior licenses (LAMFT, LGSW, LPC) who can demonstrate readiness to sit for licensure exam within 3 months of hire.
- In good standing with the professional licensing board
- Clinical mental health experience with variety of ages and clinical presentations is preferred
- Experience in intensive psychiatric healthcare settings preferred but not required; we provide extensive training as needed
- Stated desire to work with children, adolescents, adults (as applicable to role) and families
- Ability to maintain required malpractice insurance
- Ability to effectively, professionally, and efficiently communicate in written and verbal form
- Ability to smoothly and rapidly shift between dissimilar tasks
- Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations
- Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful situations and circumstances
- After training, be able to support management of disruptive and explosive patients
- Knowledge of regulatory standard governing care delivery and operations
- PRN therapists work a minimum of 4 shifts per month that may include some weekend and early evening hours. Additional shifts can be added to schedule if requested and if shifts are available. PRNs cover for both planned and unplanned staff absences
