Job Description
Assembly Production Supervisor
SUMMARY:
Must supervise growing Assembly/Fulfillment Department to create and ensure customer value and satisfaction through an efficient and improving production process. The Assembly Production Supervisor is responsible to ensure production schedules are maintained while meeting quality, cost and safety goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mentor, direct and train assembly department staff in professional manner
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules
- Plan, organize, direct, and optimize day-to-day assembly to exceed our customers’ expectation
- Communicate regularly with various department personnel and management
- Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department.
- Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable and conduct meetings with the violating employees.
- Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel.
- Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
- Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes.
- Improve career skills by enrolling yourself in seminars, technical courses, and related college courses, with approval of your manager.
- Establish high morale within department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality.
- Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program, and good housekeeping.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises all employees assigned to the department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years’ experience as a Forklift Operator and/or Truck Driver with CDL/A.
- Proven experience as a Production Supervisor or similar role
- Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
- College and/or related technical experience.
- Three years of supervisory experience as a proven manager of at least five people.
- Three years’ experience in either the corrugated box industry, or assembly industry
- Strong attention to detail with organizational and leadership abilities
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
- Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
- Able to apply concepts of high school math.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to improve/create processes to create greater productivity and quality.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
- Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
- Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
- Quality standards.
- Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
