Pratt Institute is seeking a Supervising Psychologist to join its dynamic team at the Brooklyn campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical services, supporting the Center's training program in mental health, and participating in outreach and community engagement. The Center offers crisis, individual, and group services to its diverse and international community of students. The Center is currently staffed by 5 full-time experienced clinicians; 4 psychologists and 1 clinical social worker, whose practice is informed by humanistic, developmental, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral theoretical orientations. In-person or virtual consultations, individual and group therapy, and crisis counseling are offered to students as needed.
The Counseling Center is located in the main Brooklyn campus in the historic neighborhood of Clinton Hill and offers satellite services in its Manhattan campus in Union Square.
On a typical day you will be required to:
- Conducts individual counseling of undergraduate and graduate students, performs crisis intervention and management, conducts, and supervises psychological evaluations/intakes, consultations, disposition treatment planning, and referrals, and alerts staff of emergencies as needed; provides consultation services
- Supervises crisis intervention and on-going counseling provided by trainee staff
- Participates in inter-divisional programs, including groups and psychoeducational workshops to increase student well-being
Qualifications:
Education: Doctorate in psychology (clinical, counseling, or school) or Masters in Social Work or a related field is required.
Experience: Three years of clinical experience. Postgraduate or graduate training in a college or university counseling setting preferred.
Certifications: Licensed in NY state in psychology. For Social Work candidates must have at least LCSW qualification.
Skills: Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity addressing issues of concern facing students from diverse backgrounds in higher education, as well as demonstrated level of cultural competence.
