Excet, a Precise Systems Company seeks a highly motivated and technically skilled Biological Research Scientist II to join a creative and productive team responsible for new reagent development and validation testing in the areas of developing/producing recombinant antibodies, recombinant proteins, maintaining and characterizing biomanufacturing strains and test/validation of reagents in different analytical, molecular and immunoassay formats.

Duties:

• Grow, maintain, and characterize bacterial, yeast, and mammalian cell cultures.
• Produce recombinant proteins including monoclonal antibodies.
• Conduct antibody characterization and testing using various analytical and immunoassay techniques.
• Serve as a back-up analyst in the Quality Management Program.
• Maintain and keep track of inventory and testing via LIMS software

Required Education:

• Qualified applicants will have at least a B.S. degree with 2 or more years of research experience in a productive academic or industry laboratory or a M.S. degree with 1 or more years of like experience
• Biology, microbiology, or biotechnology degree preferred.

Required Experience:

• The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated aptitude and experience for working both independently and in collaboration with other team members. He/she should be detail oriented and able to operate at a high degree of independence in planning/executing assigned tasks, adapting methods and instrumentation to resolve problems, organizing data, interpreting results, and writing reports. He/she/they should relish opportunities for learning new skills and seeking creative approaches to new problems.
• Applicants must have demonstrated hands-on experience and proficiency with molecular biology techniques including, but not limited to basic microbiology, gene cloning, cell culture, protein expression, purification and affinity chromatography, microscopy, gel electrophoresis, immunoassays (ELISA, Western blot) as well as general competence in basic laboratory procedures. Experience growing bacteria, yeast, and mammalian cell lines is essential.

Desired Experience:

• Experience with Good Laboratory Practices or other GxP experience and/or small-scale fermentation experience will be considered an advantage.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
