Precise Systems is seeking an experienced Journeyman Engineering Technician to serve as a member of the Vertical Launch System (VLS) Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Team, providing test equipment and simulator design and development for the MK41 and MK57 VLS Programs. This position entails assisting engineers with tasking associated with the design, prototype development, and production of VLS ATE and associated equipment.
Duties:
- The candidate will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of prototype and production electrical and electronic systems
- The candidate will be responsible for building or modifying prototypes from rough sketches or plans
- The candidate will be expected to draw diagrams and write specifications to clarify design details of experimental electronics units
- The candidate will be expected to inspect designs for quality control, report findings, and provide recommendations for improvement
- The candidate will be expected to identify solutions to technical design problems that arise during design, fabrication, and checkout of electrical systems.
- The candidate will be expected to redline Technical Data Packages (TDPs) (manuals, procedures, drawings, etc.) to reflect changes and errors in design or implementation
- The candidate will be responsible for installing and maintaining electrical equipment and modifying electrical prototypes, parts, and assemblies to correct problems. During system testing, the candidate will set up test equipment and evaluate the performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated conditions and collect performance data.
- The candidate will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and maintenance of circuitry and electronic components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronics.
- The candidate will be expected to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers to resolve issues.
- The candidate will be responsible for the calibration and performing preventative maintenance on equipment and systems.
Desired Skills:
- IPC-A-620 or equivalent soldering and cable assembly certification is desirable.
- IPC-A-610 or equivalent Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) inspection and assembly certification is desirable.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.).
- Ability to work in a dynamically changing environment and transform to changing direction, goals, and methods.
- Ability to speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
- Ability to develop new and unique ways to solve problems and perform work efficiently.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance team effectiveness.
- Ability to assess problem situations to identify root causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
- Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best performance of the task.
- Ability to work independently and determine sequence and priority of tasks independently.
Desired Experience:
- 5 years' experience as an Electronics Technician
Desired Education:
- High School Diploma
- Associate level degree in an engineering discipline
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift at least 40lbs.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- Valid driver's license for possible CONUS travel.
- Current U.S. passport for possible OCONUS travel.
