MANUFACTURING PRODUCTION MANAGER
Custom Cabinet Manufacturer – Plant location Brentwood
A large custom cabinet manufacturing business in Brentwood (Northern CA) has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Plant Production Manager. The production manager will be responsible for the day-to-day and hour-by-hour workflow, execution of our goals with Safety, Quality, Productivity and Processes in departments they manage on the shop-floor. Regular follow-up with his/her shop-floor teams and supervisors to reach our objectives including flow and continuous improvements.
This position is responsible for maintaining the high standards set forth by the company as follows but not limited to:
- Provide leadership, direction and guidance for the departments being managed
- Ongoing development and coordination of each department involving its production and the Safety, Quality, Productivity, Planning and Continuous Improvements
- Provide a high standard of focus on Safety, Quality and Productivity
- Lead, coach and train employees toward team concepts and foster an environment of teamwork and high performance
- Be involved in the day-to-day work with the owned departments, teams and other plant personnel to evaluate and control quality
- Participate in the hiring, training, retention and development of subordinates as well as being involved in disciplinary actions
- Ensure training of staff to maintain and enforce all safety, environmental and organizational programs; including all company policies and procedures
- Participate with HR on personnel issues when needed
- Help develop and then implement plans for the efficient use of materials, equipment and employees
- Trouble-shoot, analyze and investigate root-cause problems; in production, quality control and maintenance
- Daily quality audits and follow-ups on product being produced by his/her departments
- Help maintain a high level of accountability to achieve on time, on budget and high quality work
- Work with Plant Manager and Peers to ensure manufacturing efficiency through utilization of resources and ongoing evaluation and improvement of methods and systems
- Follow up with the different teams within the departments making sure procedures and processes are being followed
- Work with the Plant Manager, Supervisors, Team Leads and Peers to foster a safe environment of employee engagement, team building, guiding, mentoring and positive employee relations in all departments of the plant
Skills and Qualifications:
* Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs
- Proven ability to handle multiple issues at the same time and bring to resolution
- Excellent trouble-shooting skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skill
- Proven ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess, and develop employee skills
- Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment
- Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvements principles
- Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes
- Working knowledge of safety procedures
Requirements:
* 5 years of supervisory and/or management skills
- 5 years working in a manufacturing environment
- Woodworking or cabinetmaking experience is preferred
- Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook )
- Bilingual skills a plus but not required
