JOB SUMMARY:
The operator is essential for processing, developing and completing customer orders in a timely, accurate, and safe manner. The operator is responsible for coordinating and maintaining control, inventory and operation of tools, equipment and material for his/her work station(s). Any and all issues must be directly communicated to the appropriate supervisors, leads, and site management, in order to be addressed correctly.
MAIN DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Works according to assigned hours and schedules as established by the Supervisor/Site Management.
- Must adhere to all established working rules, policies, and procedures.
- Conducts operational activities on specific equipment as directed by the Department Supervisor or designated Lead.
- Evaluates and obtains the tools and equipment to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Prepares tools, equipment and material for use as directed by the Department Supervisor or designated Lead.
- Responsible for inspecting and maintaining the equipment that is being utilized.
- Ensures equipment is in appropriate working condition prior to operating. Repair issues are addressed through inspections and with the direct Supervisor or designated Lead.
- Assists in correcting identified discrepancies as needed.
- Make minor repairs and/or assembly of tools and equipment.
- Work with various small power tools and hand tools.
- Handling metal components (bars, pipe, heads, etc.) with the use of mechanical and manual means.
- Accurate and detailed measuring methods to accomplish tasks.
- Conduct routine and periodic audits and inspections as needed.
- Review and/or completion of various safety and quality documents.
- Submits requests and recommendations for tool, equipment and material purchases to Department Supervisor or designated Lead.
- Expected to submit recommendations for improving the current policies and procedures as they are identified and promote a positive work environment.
- Familiar with measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers etc.
- Familiar with use of over-head and jib cranes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires routine lifting of heavy objects, pro-longed standing, and conducting work activities with exposure to various weather elements.
- Able to walk through shop areas and in rough terrain; able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Will work in areas with temperatures and conditions equivalent to working outdoors.
- Requires the ability to climb stairs.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, fundamental arithmetic, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Team Player with an excellent attitude and motivational skills.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Possessing own tools is preferred.
- Able to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Proven ability to apply basic concepts of arithmetic and measurements; close attention to detail is essential.
