OR and PACU RN

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE AS OR NURSE!!!

TITLE: OR Nurse

RESPONSIBLE TO: Nursing Administrator

DEFINITION: Responsible for overseeing patient well-being in Pre-op, OR, and PACU

Responsible for assisting anesthesiologist with patient

Responsible for assisting surgeon and ORT with sterile supplies and instruments

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Minimum 2 years in Peri-operative Nursing , including Pre-op, Operating Room, and PACU.

Must be able to:

• start IV's
• assess patients in pre-op
• ensure patient safety in OR
• assist surgeon and ORT in all aspects of operating room nursing
• recover patients from General Anesthesia in PACU

Education: RN with Current California License to practice Nursing

Current BLS and ACLS

JOB DUTIES:

1. At the beginning of the surgical day, checks and records:

• room temperature and humidity
• Suctions (in OR and PACU)
• O2 tanks in PACU, Crash cart, and in OR

2. Assists ORT with opening supplies for case

3. Prepares patient for surgery, including assisting patient to don appropriate attire, verifying identity, performs pre-op Patient Assessment, start IV, ensure all consents and all appropriate paperwork are signed by patient, assist surgeon with patient if needed, perform EKG if ordered, perform Blood Glucose test if ordered

4. After Anesthesiologist assessment, escorts patient into the Operating Room.

5. Positions patient on OR table, ensuring patient safety

6. Performs "Time out" with staff

7. Remains at patient side during induction

8. Perform surgical prep

9. Make available additional sterile supplies and instruments as requested during surgery

10. During local sedation cases, records vital signs and gives medications as ordered by physician

11. Counts sponges and needles as may be required during the surgical procedure

12. Assists in transferring to PACU gurney and into PACU for recovery

13. Recovers patient until stable, providing pain medications as ordered

14. Communicates with anesthesiologist and surgeon and discharges patient when stable

15. Checks inventory and restocks as needed in Pre-op, OR and PACU

16. Updates physician preference cards as needed

17 Restocks medications in anesthesia cart, PACU, and OR cabinets

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $57.00 - $67.00 per hour
