Position Title: Inventory/Shipping Supervisor
Department: Purchasing/Materials
Reports to: Purchasing/Materials Manager
Position Summary
Provides work direction and leadership to the logistics/materials department and assigns priority levels to work requests. Ensures organized information/material flow and smooth daily operations in the shipping receiving area. Unloads trucks, verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipping by performing the following duties.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall supervision of the warehouse/inventory staff and effective operation of packing, shipping, receiving and inventory.
- Support Purchasing Manager in the safe, efficient and economic running of the warehouse.
- Oversee & participate in the preparation of items for shipping, receiving, storing and inventory.
- Oversee & participate in incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments which includes lifting and carrying materials.
- Review records for accuracy and compliance with established procedures. Review shipping discrepancies as needed and work to rectify problems with relevant employees.
- Conduct Inventory counts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Develop and maintain an effective department, assisting in the selection, training, motivation and review of employees.
- Manage and understand international shipments and customs.
- Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Back-up support to other departments (e.g. inventory, purchasing, etc.)
- Help maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment.
- Other job duties as assigned by the supervisor, which may include support to other departments within Preco.
Hiring Qualifications
- Position requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Business courses preferred.
- 1-2 years in a shipping/receiving environment as a lead or supervisor preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; organizational skills very desirable.
- Familiar with windows based applications.
