Job Description

Summary

Precoat Metals, the leader in metal coil coating for over 60 years, is looking for a high-quality Software Engineer who wants to join a tight knit, highly collaborative team.  Our team is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the software that runs our company as well as supporting teammates across the enterprise. Due to the nature of the work, this role is located onsite at our St. Louis, MO campus (635 Maryville Centre Drive).

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain software that helps our company be the best at what we do – you will create and maintain software written in modern SQL/RPGLE, participate in code reviews, and assist with User Acceptance Testing as needed.
• Work with end users and stakeholders across the enterprise to address new and changing business needs.
• Offer ideas and input on making the team more efficient, automating processes, increasing security, etc.
• Providing regular updates on the status of your work.
• Adhering to company standards for coding, documentation, testing, etc.
• Other responsibilities as business requires.

Qualifications

Required skills

• At least 5 years of software development in a professional setting using COBOL and RPG on the IBM i platform.
• At least 5 years working with EDI handling at least 50 trading partners and the following X12 transaction sets:  810, 846, 850, 856, 861, 867, 870, 871, and 997.
• Familiarity with the software development life cycle.
• Familiarity with source code control software like Git, Aldon, Turnover, or others.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Preferred skills

• Familiarity with Cleo EEI/Harmony (formerly known as Clarify and Extol)
• Familiarity with COBOL and SYNON (CA:2E).
• Familiarity with web services.
