Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a Full-Time Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist for our office located at: 2000 Oxford Drive, Suite 560, Bethel Park, PA 15102. Prior back office medical assistant and phlebotomy training and/or experience is required. Responsibilities include rooming patients, vitals, injections, and triage, along with all aspects of phlebotomy.

General Purpose of the Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist Position: Responsible for assisting physicians and nurses with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. May assist with appointment scheduling and electronic chart management.
Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist Essential Functions:
- Escorts patients to and from exam or treatment rooms as appropriate. Records all patient data prior to the physician or nurse seeing the patient. This includes vital signs, height and weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, reason for visit, etc.
- Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed by the physician.
- Answers and returns patient phone calls as directed. Is responsible for contacting pharmacies for prescriptions or may answer patient telephone calls for referrals. May handle other patient telephone calls as directed by the physician, nurse or Office Manager.
- Obtains all necessary patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, consults, etc. as required by the physician or nurse for assessment of the patient's medical status.
- Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions
- Assists with exams and procedures as requested.
- Assists with scheduling tests, procedures or appointments to follow-up on test results
- Prepares, maintains and stocks exam and treatment rooms. Orders supplies as needed.
- Obtains new patient information and any test results.
- Assists with administrative duties such as typing, faxing, reception duties, etc.
- Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
- Informs physician of patient reschedule or no-shows.
- Assists with delegated patient education activities including but not limited to distributing educational literature, etc.
- Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, nurse or office manager.
Education:
A high school diploma or GED is required. Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant. Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred, however open to new graduate applicants.
