SUMMARY
In this role, you will ensure the safety of visitors at our aquatic facility. You will be supervised by Head Guards and Lifeguard Managers. As a lifeguard, you will explain safety rules to patrons, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce the pool rules for the facility. You will also be responsible for opening and closing procedures as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
- Must be at least 15 years of age and be able to obtain a work permit if under the age of 18
- Work a minimum of 1 day a week and have 1 day of weekend availability
- Reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts
- Ability to work independently
- Candidate must be enthusiastic, outgoing, and have a willingness to interact with the public
- Possess or, be able to obtain StarGuard Elite Lifeguard certification
- Swimming proficiency and feels comfortable in the water
Preferred
- Prior lifeguard experience
- StarGuard Elite Lifeguard certification
- Be able to work a minimum of 2 days a week and have 1 day of weekend availability
Physical
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job and to move or lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be physically able to rescue someone drowning or injured in the water
- Exposed to prolonged periods of being outdoors
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed
- Advises swimmers of improper activities or dangers and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies
- Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, co-workers, and management
- Responds to emergency situations and administers first-aid when necessary
- Maintain focus at a high level for extended periods of time
- Evaluates conditions for safety and activates emergency action plan if necessary
- Complete daily opening/closing procedure checklists
- Assists with pool chemical tests and records results accordingly
