Premier Medical Group, a busy physician-owned, multi-specialty group, is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide acute care and preventive services for the Family Medicine Department. Candidates must be skilled in evaluation and management of acute injury or illness and have 2 years of experience in geriatrics, family medicine or primary care. They must be comfortable with volume, EMR, procedures, and be compassionate and patient friendly. Duties included but are not limited to:
1. Performs a complete physical exam, obtains complete medical history and records findings. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines. Sutures minor lacerations.
2. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
3. Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long term medical needs patients. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results. Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
4. Documents patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains department statistics. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
5. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
6. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
7. Maintains patient confidentiality.
8. Performs related work as required.
Essential Functions: Provide acute and preventive care to all age ranges.
This is a full-time, Monday - Friday position. Occasional nights/weekends.
Qualifications
Job Requirements/Qualifications: Board certification or board eligible (must obtain certification within 5 years of graduating from a U.S.-based certified residency) in Family Medicine
Education: Physician Assistant applicants: Master of Science in Physician Assistant
Nurse Practitioner applicants: Master of Science in Nursing
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a clinic setting.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of how to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to operate medical instruments required for physical exam and minor procedures and computer hardware/software.
Licenses/Certifications:
Physician Assistant Applicants: Current state PA license, certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, current CPR certification.
Nurse Practitioner Applicants: Current state RN license. Current state license as an advance registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority.
Working Conditions: Traditional physician office setting. Business office and clinical environment with medical office equipment, supplies, chemicals and gases. Position may require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and universal precautions.
Physical Demands: Requires standing, walking and sitting for extensive periods of time.
