Quality Control Specialist
Position Description:
Responsible for inspection and testing of materials and finished products to ensure they conform to all applicable company standards. Tests and verifies conformance of products across all stages of production (before, in-process and final) to ensure all quality standards are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance to company standards and specifications. Performs inspections across all stages of production.
- Receive and monitor the quality of incoming materials from suppliers, including conducting bake tests and recording data.
- Keep all data orderly and up to date.
- Utilize standard and specialized measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and a variety of standardized gages to inspect incoming parts.
- Read and follow written instructions, engineering drawings, schematics, and related documentation.
- Maintain detailed records and prepare various reports.
- Prepare reports for inspections and audits.
- Evaluate data and draft reports, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards.
- Communicate quality or compliance concerns with urgency and accuracy.
- Discuss inspection results with those responsible for product.
- Identify areas for quality improvement and implement new methods using six sigma and lean methodologies.
- Regularly required to move about the facility.
- Work with production personnel to manage all products and materials that fail to meet specifications.
- Initiate root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Work with production personnel to prepare and maintain SOP’s and NCR’s.
General
- Ability to deal with problems.
- Evaluate manufacturing issues regarding quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and quality documents such as blue prints, assembly instructions, bill of materials and procedure manuals.
- Ability to carry out written and oral instructions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers, or employees.
- Liaise with Engineering, Design, Materials, Manufacturing, and any other departments to ensure quality requirements are clearly identified.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding quality of incoming parts and assemblies as needed.
- Good mathematical skills a must.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Assist in the evaluation of manufacturing processes, vendors, and suppliers regarding quality as needed.
- Assist with quality assurance system activities as needed.
Knowledge, Experience and Education preferences:
· Associate degree in a technical field and/or relevant work experience in quality control or similar related responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
· Quality Inspector training and/or certification.
· Experience in manufacturing: 3 years (Preferred)
· Experience quality control / inspection: 3 years (Preferred)
· Knowledge or training in the principles of lean manufacturing is a plus.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Competent with MS Office and including basic understanding of word and excel.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
