What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deck Lead position at Premier Swim Academy?
For internal candidates:
The Deck Lead is responsible for maintaining the flow, consistency and success of the lessons program. Throughout the shift, Deck Leads are responsible for ensuring that our customers and swimmers have the best possible experience and that parents understand our process, how we operate and what to expect from the program.
Responsibilities include:
- Communicate with instructors regarding timing of the start and end of the lessons
- Confirming that all instructors/classes are assigned to the correct bin color
- Ensure that the pool, showers and locker room are clear of any hazards
- Confirm pool chemistry is in line using the chemical controller
- Control the flow of swimmers in and out of the pool
- Communicate with viewing room guests waiting for lessons to ensure they are aware where to go and when to go there
- Be the bridge between parents and instructors to limit the number of guests allowed on the pool deck.
- Remain on deck during all lessons, unless you are communicating with guests in the viewing area.
- Communicate with parents and admins regarding required changes to student class levels and times based on instructor feedback
- BE READY TO JUMP IN THE WATER TO ASSIST IN ANY DIFFICULT LESSONS
Beginning of shift Duties:
- Check chemistry levels of pool water
- Do walk through of entire facility to ensure there are no hazards
- Do a run through of the schedules in Jackrabbit and Evolia to catch any issues with schedules
- Check in with admins for any updates
- Communicate cleaning duties to admins as needed
During Shift:
- Walkthroughs of entire facility to ensure there are no hazards
- Maintain awareness of Jackrabbit calendar to catch any issues with schedules
- Check in on students on our advancement evaluation list
- Maintain high standard of safety and consistency for all staff
- Document interactions using OneTeam360
End of Shift:
- Delegate closing duties (tarps, hose, facility walkthroughs, etc)
- Follow up with any staff based on interactions/coaching offered throughout shift
- Check in with admins for any updates
- Necessary Reporting
- Ensure facility security upon closing
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, stoop and crouch. The employee is frequently required to use hands to feel, reach and type. The employee is also required to swim, teach an average of 10 hours per week and demonstrate teaching skills. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move equipment or a small or average size child up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The environment also involves working in and around the pool, which has a warm and humid atmosphere, and which requires following specified safety precautions.
