Summary
The Assistant Director of Quality will help lead MTA C&D Quality Management to ensure compliance with contract and quality process requirements by implementing and continuously improving a robust quality management system.
Responsibilities
Directs quality reviews of external designs, materials, and installation requirements, activities, and processes to ensure compliance.
Works with internal Business Unit personnel and teams to identify, understand and follow requirements.
Works with MTA C&D Contracts staff to establish ongoing review, development, and update of quality requirements for external consultants/contractors/suppliers.
Provides feedback to other C&D department managers and teams to identify and develop requirements and processes to support the successful execution of C&D programs and projects.
Supports activities to ensure the ongoing continuation of the MTA C&D ISO 9001 registration, including developing and implementing continuous improvement programs by securing active participation from consultants/contractors/suppliers.
Works with internal Business Unit personnel to ensure Consultant/Contractor development/maintenance/ implementation of contractually required Quality Programs, including compliance with Inspection & Test Plans by Suppliers and Independent Testing Laboratories.
Works with C&D Corporate Quality personnel to identify and initiate improvements in C&D processes, requirements, and activities to ensure the successful execution of the MTA C&D Capital Program.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Transportation, or a related field.
Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.
Must have a minimum of four (4) years in a management or supervisory role and/or project/quality manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.
Competencies:
Experience developing and implementing Quality Management Programs to meet established organizational goals and processes, including ISO 9001 Standard requirements.
Experience in project management for projects with highly complex systems preferred.
Substantial experience leading and managing contractors, subcontractors, or vendors.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal organizational levels.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively.
Must have focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.
Must possess excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
