Position: Controller

Location: Bozeman, Montana

Job Overview:

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of The PRG Group, PRG Commercial, United Concrete and Mountain States Civil. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the company. The Controller will manage financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, all accounting and admin personnel, and compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Maintain a Timely Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Schedule of all accounting and admin items include the timely closing of the books monthly.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts. Report variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide Short and long-term cash flow models & cash flow projections
  • Ensure sufficient controls are in place to safeguard company assets and ensure integrity of company data
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain, Refine and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Audit and Tax Coordination: Coordinate and manage the preparation of regulatory reporting and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the finance and accounting team, including staff and third-party consulting firms. Mentor and develop staff, managing work allocation, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Implementation of new accounting software. Expect installation within the first 12 months of hiring date.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5 years of management experience in the construction industry.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Integrity: High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

This position reports directly to the Business’ Partners and works alongside other members of the leadership team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
