Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Qualifications for this position are:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Forest Management or related field from an accredited university with preferably two years’ experience in forest management, GIS, recreational and wildlife experience and or training.
- Proficient in the operation of computer, photocopier, GPS units, chainsaw, dozer, heavy trucks, tractor, forest spraying equipment, site preparation equipment, welders, torches, mowers, and a variety of power hand tools.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of people
- Able to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other departmental employees, DNR, other county departments, clubs, and organizations with contractual relationships with the Forestry Department and the general public.
- Ability to work mainly in a forest environment where there is considerable risk of personal injury from falls, operation of heavy equipment, construction sites, extreme weather conditions, wild animals, insect bites, and contact with poisonous plants
- Possess the physical ability to lift 50 lbs frequently, and occasionally, 100 lbs
- Possess or be able to secure a Wisconsin Herbicide Applicator’s License.
- Must have valid Wisconsin issued class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Additional Information
The selection process for this position may include an employment history evaluation, a personal interview, a Department of Justice criminal background check, and a pre-employment physical, including a drug screening.
