DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY

To supervise the Quality Engineering department’s processes, procedures and employees in order to successfully deliver on all business expectations

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

•Ensure the execution of company goals, process and/or business improvement efforts for quality, including auditing and assessing supplier qualification, process validation, new product launch, surveillance and control, continuous improvement, Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA), verification audits, warranty parts return analysis, and assessing and approving Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to meet Pride’s and the Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) quality system requirements

•Develop and implement essential quality systems to ensure goals and objectives are met 

•Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Distribution Centers (DC’s), Product Quality Engineers, and Pride China Quality Consultants to improve efficiencies in quality processes including design

•Serve as a Quality Champion to facilitate, focus and drive continual quality improvement (CI Teams)

•Update management with Process, Product, and Supplier compliance to requirements through weekly/monthly performance ratings

•Provide Voice of the Customer (VOC) data and trends to help reduce/eliminate field issues and drive to root cause

•Provide data and trend analysis on VOC issues for special requests including Provider visits 

•Develop, analyze, and survey trending techniques to establish, control, and verify process capability to ensure that product specifications are met

•Present quality data findings/improvements to upper management, when necessary

•Work with Purchasing and Engineering to approve acceptable suppliers and/or recommend elimination of poor-quality performing suppliers

•Develop, diagnose, and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting and problem-solving using recognized tools such as DMAIC, PPAP, COPQ, FMEA, 8D, etc.

•Acquire and analyze data using appropriate quantitative statistical methods to facilitate improvements

•Serve as a Quality liaison with internal/external customers to measure and improve performance and reduce returns/customer complaints through effective corrective and preventative actions

•Work closely with internal/external customers to improve product quality and process controls while assisting them to identify permanent corrective actions to all non-conformities that occur in process or warranty

•Continue to work with internal/external customers to improve in-process yields, supporting them with their internal suppliers, and quality improvements

•Closely monitor and provide Device Alerts for all new product launches ensuring all quality disciplines/procedures are in place, while meeting corporate quality objectives and promoting corporate wide quality culture

•Coach and teach advanced skills and techniques to Quality Engineers

•Provide daily, weekly, and monthly quality summary reports as necessary

•Assist management in championing change within Pride

•Oversee Returned Product Evaluations

•Oversee/assist with Device Audits and Device Audit Scheduling

•Meet and fulfill timelines as assigned

•Serve as back-up for technical quality issues with outside suppliers and internal departments

•Conduct annual audits of internal/external facilities and suppliers

•Ensure compliance and advocate for Pride Mobility Products/Quantum Rehab Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action placement and utilization goals and hiring benchmarks through non-discriminatory employment practices across your Area of Responsibility (AOR)

•Assist with staff management including documenting and communicating objectives, positively impacting employee morale, motivating team members, conducting performance appraisals, and appropriately addressing individual or group performance issues

•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management 

•Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training 

•Assist with assigning, training, and developing staff based on experience and departmental goals

•Assist with developing goals and objectives, and measuring outcomes to ensure goals are met

•Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment 

•Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations

•Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

•Must be a team player, friendly, professional, detail-oriented, and honest

•Must be a change agent and champion for continuous quality improvement

 

Must have the ability to:

•Multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment

•Guide, direct, and motivate staff to foster career growth within the Quality Engineering team

•Use inspection and measuring equipment (including but not limited to Height Gauges, Calipers, Micrometers, Durometer, Optical Comparator), hand tools, and standard power tools

•Prepare and present summary reports

•Plan, develop, and execute tactical and strategic quality initiatives

•Foster cross-functional relationships that promote cooperation and consensus decision making

•Raise the bar to higher performance objectives

•Carry out duties with the utmost integrity

•Travel up to 10% of the time internationally as business needs dictate

 

Must have:

•Relentless drive to achieve advancement and continuous improvement

•Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint

•Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills

•Strong leadership, development, and coaching skills

•Strong organizational skills to schedule tasks and develop realistic action plans while being sensitive to time constraints and resource availability

•Advanced statistic process, root cause, and failure analysis skills

•Intermediate working knowledge of Six Sigma concepts

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

•Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Access preferred

•Basic working knowledge of American National Standards Institute – Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (ANSI-RESNA) standards preferred

•Basic working knowledge of relevant European and International standards preferred

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

•At least 3 years of relevant work experience in an Engineering or Quality position with a proven track record of success

•At least 3 years of experience in quality management systems such as ISO13485 or equivalent

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

•At least 4 years of Quality Assurance experience implementing and maintaining quality improvement plans in a manufacturing environment preferred

•At least 1 year of experience in international manufacturing preferred

•At least 1 year of experience leading and/or directing employees in an engineering role preferred

•Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation in a Quality role preferred

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION

•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology or related field OR an Associate Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology or related field with at least 6 years of the required experience OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 12 years of the required experience

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION

•Certification(s) in American Society for Quality (ASQ), Standard Quality (SQ), Certified Manager of Quality (CMQ)/Organizational Excellence (OE), Campaign for Quality Education (CQE), CRE, and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred

•Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
