What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner, Gastroenterology position at Prima CARE, P.C.?
Prima CARE’s Gastroenterology Division in Fall River,_ Massachusetts, has an immediate opening for a Nurse Practitioner. Preferably looking for full time candidates but part-time candidates with experience will be considered._
The successful candidate would be involved in the Division’s office-based practice and in hospital coverage, depending on training and experience. Our team is composed of Fellowship-trained and Board-certified Gastroenterologists and Nurse Practitioners. Procedures and consults are performed at St. Anne’s Hospital and outpatient procedures are performed in our in-office GI Endoscopy Suite.
The successful candidate will see patients in the office during the week and in the hospitals, with occasional half-days on weekends in exchange for time off during the week. He/she will evaluate office referrals and hospital consults, order appropriate diagnostic studies, evaluate patients that requires procedures, and care for post-operative patients in office. He/she will also see follow-up patients, both scheduled and unscheduled.
Interest and experience in the following areas is desirable:
· Knowledge in management and diagnosis of colitis, gastritis, GERD, and other chronic GI conditions
· Knowledge and experience with upper and lower GI procedures
· Ability to work in a collegial fashion with referring physicians, specialists, hospitals, visiting nurses and skilled nursing facilities. Comfort working with patients and families.
· Ability to evaluate lab tests, prescribe and refill meds, and counsel patients and families regarding procedures.
Prima CARE participates in national quality initiatives, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and our offices are fully-computerized using eClinicalworks for scheduling, documentation, e-prescribing, and billing.
The NP or PA will be an employee of PrimaCARE and must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. hold a valid Drug Enforcement Agency certificate, a Massachusetts controlled substances registration, BLS, and ACLS. Compassion, maturity, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential. At least 1-2 years of gastroenterology experience is desirable, but new grads with motivation and previous relevant nursing experience will be considered.
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, training, and skill set.
