Our company has an exciting opportunity for a sharp, ambitious Junior Accountant.
Highlights:
- The Junior Accountant is responsible for reconciling various bank accounts and merchant accounts and assisting with collections.
- The role also updates financial information, prepares and submits reports, and assists with other general accounting activities and tasks.
What you get to do every single day
- Reconciles various bank accounts by compiling and balancing financial information
- Reconciles credit card transactions and merchant accounts
- Updates financial records via accounting software
- Posts adjusting journal entries as needed to ensure transactions are properly recorded
- Prepares and submits reports on a weekly/monthly basis and as needed
- Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures and complying with requirements
- Assists with accounts payable or accounts receivable
- Assists with collections activities and process
- Assist in preparation of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to company guidelines
- Assists in monthly/quarterly/yearly closings
- Other responsibilities and assignments are to be expected in this role
Scope
- Individual Contributor
- No supervisory or managerial responsibility
- No budget responsibility
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in an accounting role focused on bank reconciliation
- Experience in merchant account reconciliation is preferred
- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections is helpful
- High School diploma or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- General math skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Good understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Familiarity with NetSuite or other ERP accounting software
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Excel
- Ability to work remotely
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The work environment is that of a general office, either in the company’s facility or in a home office setting
- On occasion, work outside normal business hours is expected
- Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- Frequently required to talk or hear
- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet
- The employee must continually lift and/or move up to ten pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus
