As a Contract RN, you will evaluate the competency of individuals, which will provide Home Health Aide services to include shower, bed bath, tub bath, partial bath in the client’s home or in a comp lab, as allowed. Additionally, you will complete the Home Health Aid (HHA) Competency Assessment to meet the requirements of the Medicare Condition of Participations (COPs) which includes the following skills checks:
Physicians’ orders-HHA Plan of Care
Documentation/Advance Directives/DNR
Reporting change in patient condition or skin condition/breakdown
Reporting change in body function/Pain Mgt.
Communication skills/ability to read, write, and report clinical info to clients, family and othercaregivers
Vital signs – temp, pulse and respirations
Infection control/Hazardous Waste
Recognizing emergencies/Emergency Preparedness
Maintenance of a clean, safe, and healthy environment
Basic elements of body functioning and reportable changes
Grooming (hair, nail, and skin care)
Bathing
Bed/sponge
Tub/Shower
Shampoo/Hair washing in tub, bed,sink, shower
Oral Hygiene
Toileting and elimination
Safe transfer techniques and ambulation
Range of motion
Positioning/Re-positioning
Recording nutrition and fluid intake
Hoyer lift
Physical, emotional, and developmental needs of client
Need for respect of client, respect for client privacy and their property
