JOB TITLE: Tack Up Operator

DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing

LOCATION: Dublin, TX

PAY: Starting pay - $17/hr

SUMMARY: Our Tack Up Welder welds short beads at points specified by layout, welding diagram, or by fitter along overlapping edges of metal parts to hold parts in place for final welding. Performs tasks of fitter helper. May also tack-weld using hand, or gas-shielded arc welding equipment, or spotwelding gun.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welding steel structural parts as specified per drawing or print.
  • Perform MIG welding process.
  • Select appropriate welding tools and equipment based on the job requirements.
  • Operating grinder to prepare and finish welds.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Detect and correct defects in welds, such as porosity or incomplete penetration.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshoot repairs, and detect flaws in equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve production goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to pass a 1G Limited Weld Test.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing/fabrication shop is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme heat or cold (non-weather).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
