Ingredients for your Success:
As the Junior Buyer, you will be a key part of the team focused on supporting the buyers and other stakeholders in placing orders, supporting the purchasing team, and creating and distributing necessary communications to the sales team, leadership, and vendors. This position is a non-exempt, regular full-time role that reports directly to the Procurement Manager.
To be eligible for the Junior Buyer role, you are committed to growing into a Commodity Buyer role in the future.
Requirements
- Must be organized and able to execute purchase orders in an accurate and timely manner.
- Must maintain daily and weekly communications for the sales and purchasing team.
- Oversee item and vendor maintenance as needed.
- Buying and product training – the ability to work with buyers to learn all commodities as assigned.
- Maintains proper stock levels and parts of assigned items and categories.
- Able to build trust, cooperation, and commitment to achieving mutual goals through teamwork.
- Dependable - Consistently acts upon instructions from supervisor and uses good judgment in situations requiring independent decision-making. Adheres to the company attendance policy.
- Works closely with all buyers on a rotating basis to learn each purchasing category.
- Works closely with leadership and buyers to execute larger procurement goals and strategy.
- Able to work flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends if/when needed.
- Able to learn and grow into a buyer role within two years of the start of the apprenticeship
- Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.
Work Environment AND Physical Requirements
- Most work is performed in a standard office or remote setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards; substantial time is spent working on a computer.
- Working in a cold environment for limited times, when necessary, in the Warehouse is also required.
Education Required
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A college degree, is preferred.
Experience and Other Skills Required
- Experience in purchasing and/or proteins is preferable but not required.
- Must be able to conduct oneself professionally, with the ability to multi-task, and ability to follow directions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
