Position Summary
The Primo Healthcare Services Dialysis Registered Nurse will provide supplemental/contract services to our clients and will strive to provide all services in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion. The Dialysis Registered Nurse will include but are not limited to: the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patients' status, plan of care, and goal achievement.

Education, Qualifications, and Credentials
- RN License
- 1-year of professional nursing Dialysis experience
- Current AHA, BLS provider course with card, and any other specialty certifications required for working in specific specialty areas (PALS, ACLS, NRP, etc.)
- Current CPR certifications are also required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the state nursing act specific to the state you are working in while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
- Monitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Assist physicians and all healthcare professionals caring for patients, always giving a complete and thorough report on patient status at the end of shift/assignment.
- Perform routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times.
- Practice patient teaching/training for patients and families.
- Follow facility policy when disposing of bio-hazardous materials, labeling, and handling of all materials.
- Actively demonstrate a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice in order to holistically care for the patient.
- Communicate seek educational tools in order to broaden the knowledge base of various age groups, diseases, and best practices.
- Will be frequently lifting, consistently causing a high volume of stooping, bending, pulling, and twisting.
- Will handle and be knowledgeable of all medical equipment utilized in the care of the patient.
- Must be able to perform various sensory requirements such as; vision, speech, smell, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and hearing in order to assess and treat the patient accurately.
- Comply with all facility policies and procedures, while upholding the high expectations of Primo Healthcare Services.
- Accountable and responsible for each specific patient assigned while under the direct supervision of the facility's Charge Nurse and/or House Supervisor.
- Is punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts, while adhering to our strict NO CALL OUT Policy.
- Primes dialyzers and bloodlines.
- Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Readies dialysis equipment.
- Oversees the dialysis treatment from start to finish.
- Cannulates accesses.
- Demonstrate the ability to remove femoral sheaths and administer medications including thrombolytics.
- Cleans and dresses permanent and temporary catheters.
- Monitors patients and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records information.
- Identifies irregular dialysis reactions and notifies appropriate medical team members.
- Secures blood works.
- Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication, if needed.
- Maintains medical inventory.
- Provides pre and post-procedure care to patients within the Hemodialysis Unit.
