Primoris T&D provides engineering, construction, and maintenance of electric power delivery facilities, including substations up to 345kV. Ancillary services include wireless telecommunication installation, environmental cleanup, project management, and storm restoration services.

Primoris T&D is currently searching for an Electrical Engineer with Substation experience in the Fort Worth, TX market. This position will be responsible for substation engineering, including detailed design for high voltage projects through 500kv.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for substation engineering, including detailed design for high voltage projects through 500kv.
  • Depending upon complexity of the project, the Engineer may prepare, provide guidance, or assist in preparing and developing the engineering deliverables for electric substation projects - including both physical and protection and control practices.
  • Develop technical specifications, provide direction and guidance to drafters and designers, directing the flow of drafting and designer duties, ensuring design schedules are met, including regularly providing project status updates to project engineer.
  • Responsible for handling multiple projects and providing a detailed design package that complies with applicable engineering design standards and all safety codes.

Education & Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Minimum of 5 -15 years of tangible experience as a practicing engineer and or state registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • Knowledge of substation systems ranging in voltages from 12.47 kV up to 500 kV.
  • Detailed knowledge of basic principles related to engineering design of high voltage substations.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, such as, IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, and NEMA.
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Knowledge of understanding three phase power systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of AC/DC fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of design documents and drawings required for high voltage substations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files.
  • Registered Professional Engineer is preferred.
  • Proficient in principles of project management is preferred.
  • Experience in the utility industry strongly preferred.
