Job Function
Reporting into the R&D/Quality Manager, the Innovation Associatewill be based out of Houston, TXand will be responsible for various laboratory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Perform physical and chemical tests on oil field chemicals, including experimental products, or using company internal test procedures or reference test methods (e.g., ASTM, API). Recommend improved testing methodologies and maintain written and digital records of conducted tests.
Utilize test results to contribute to the definition and development of new products based on Vibrantz or Customer requests and to verify and approve alternative raw materials.
Effectively communicate test findings through oral and written reports, delivering formalized reports for internal or customer-facing purposes as required.
Ensure sufficient laboratory supplies, including materials in the Lab Stockroom, to facilitate immediate work execution.
Maintain the proper functionality of equipment used in the laboratory.
Manage an inventory of chemicals used and stored in the laboratory, ensuring appropriate labeling.
Maintain a comprehensive library of safety data sheets for all chemicals used in the laboratory.
Serve as a backup for quality-control technicians, such as covering for vacations or temporary high workloads.
Adhere to safety regulations and practices, including compliance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan. Actively participate in Innovation, corporate, and plant safety activities.
Required Experience
High school diploma (or equivalent) along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
The ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Experience
A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in a physical science, such as chemistry or materials science, is preferred with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Experience in a drilling fluid lab is highly desirable.
Previous industrial work experience involving customer interaction.
