Job Overview


The Vice President of Supply Chain is responsible for managing and organizing the activities involved with the identification, procurement, logistics, material forecasting, capacity planning, manage scheduling, warehousing, inventory control and distribution of the production manufacture for the Prinova Nutrition customers.

Main Duties & Responsibilities


  • Direct and oversee the activities of all functions/teams involved in purchasing, planning, warehouse and control of materials from receipt to delivery of finished products to our customers;
  • Develop standards for order management including acknowledgement, analysis of “capable to promise” lead times and customer communication standards;
  • Coordinate with Operations to oversee the master scheduling process at the individual site locations and globally to ensure short-term and long-term production expectations are met;
  • Develop methodology and assist site Production Planners with systematic management of work orders and shop floor schedules;
  • Develop and maintain capacity models (primarily inside ERP) for production and supply chains at each manufacturing site;
  • Identify risk to capacity constraints and optimize throughput;
  • Establish optimal inventory levels necessary for targeted service levels;
  • Develop standards of operation to ensure accurate inventory records;
  • Collaborate with divisional leaders to manage and reduce inventory obsolescence;
  • Fully leverage company vertical integration model to maximize intercompany transactions;
  • Develop and facilitate the S&OP process, management from the manufacturing sites, Supply Chain and Commercial support departments;
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to establish demand plans:
  • Collaborate with individual sites to establish and maintain long-term supply plans using systematic planning tools;
  • Develop and present standardized S&OP Metrics;
  • Establish standardized graphs, charts and methods of communicating performance on sites;
  • Analyze financial, costing, and other complex data sets;
  • Identify, analyze and solve complex problems as they relate to manufacturing, finance or accounting;
  • Establish and report key activities by site to improve overall S&OP performance;
  • Ensure standardized graphs, charts and methods of communicating performance of sites;
  • Ensure logistics performance meets the needs of the master production plan in the most cost effective manner;
  • Owner of freight budget and expedite control policy
  • Ensure accurate ERP data including safety stock, lead times and MOQ’s;
  • Optimize the use of JD Edwards And other systems as needed functionality for Planning, Scheduling, Capacity Analysis, Demand Management, Order Management, Inventory Management and other Supply Chain functions;
  • Act as subject matter expert for ERP functionality as it relates directly or indirectly to Supply Chain and Manufacturing;
  • Follow cGMP guidelines and processes as established in department SOP’s
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements and Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10 years purchasing experience required; industry experience preferred;
  • Strong negotiation and management skills;
  • Effective in influencing others;
  • Experience sourcing direct and indirect materials;
  • Strong understanding of inventory planning, forecasting techniques and operational systems;
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills;
  • Intermediate knowledge base of Microsoft Office and general computer concepts, advanced knowledge base of Microsoft Excel;
  • Experience with Inventory Management Software, JD Edwards preferred;
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements


  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours;
  • Work environment is normally in an office setting. Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment;
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas;
  • Other physical requirements include frequent squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral wrist movement;
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lab lbs.;
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
