We are seeking a Therapy Aide who will be split equally between Duke Audiology and the Duke Voice Care Center in the Duke Otolaryngology of South Durham clinic. This position entails both direct and indirect patient care needs, supporting the audiologists and speech-language pathologists at this center.

JOB DUTIES

  • Ordering and receiving hearing aids, accessories, and assistive listening devices.
  • Hearing device programming and set up.
  • Handling of invoices from vendors and ensuring timely payment.
  • Triaging of walk-in hearing aid patients.
  • Maintenance and ordering of audiology diagnostic and hearing aid supplies.
  • Completion of daily charge reconciliation.
  • Coordination of referrals and other medical record documentation.
  • Troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions.
  • Management of speech pathology waitlists.
  • Assistance with CME logistics.
  • Completion of general clerical duties including ordering business cards, mailings, photocopies, and stocking supplies.
  • Oversight of scheduling template creation and edits for SLPs.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from high school of GED; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Successful completion of an on-the-job training period, rendering competency in performance of required duties after a specified period of time. One year of audiology/speech pathology experience or equivalent education preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or acquisition within the first three months of employment.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


  • Experience in audiology and/or speech-language pathology
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking ability
  • Basic PC and data entry skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, provide oral and written instructions, interact with customers and establish and maintain effective relationships with others
