About the role.
The Underwriting Auditor is responsible for providing objective assurance and advisory services in relation to the company’s underwriting risk management practices. This role will apply a disciplined and unbiased approach in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of key processes and controls while protecting the assets and reputation of PURE Programs. The Underwriting Auditor will report to the Underwriting Technical Trainer and Audit Manager and will be based out of our Roswell, GA office.
What you’ll do.
Assist in the ongoing development of the Underwriting Audit function and perform day to day work to evaluate processes and controls to manage operational, technology, and regulatory risks.
Audit underwriting files to ensure compliance and adherence to:
Authority statements
Underwriting Guidelines
Underwriting processes/best practices
Contractual obligations with our partner carriers
Rates, terms, conditions
Deliver independent objective assessments and recommendations that assist management in mitigating risk and improving PURE Program’s internal control environment
Plan, execute, and report on underwriting audit activities (create high quality work papers and reports for Management)
Work with UW Technical Trainer to identify issues and create an action plan to address issues through training opportunities
Work with Management to resolve issues and follow up on their action plans
Provide strategic advice to management using underwriting audit skills that help preserve or improve enterprise value
Implement data analytics and automate testing to the fullest extent possible
What we’re looking for.
Individuals that demonstrate integrity and establish trust through credibility
2-3 years of internal audit and/or insurance underwriting experience; high net worth insurance experience a plus
BA/BS degree in Accounting/Finance, Mathematics, Project Management, or Business Administration preferred
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
Proven experience working collaboratively in a team environment
Self-motivated, detail-oriented team player with a desire to learn, grown and drive improvement
Awareness of surplus regulatory requirements and associated risks and controls for a US-based surplus broker preferred
Ability to communicate issues and findings that influence improvements to internal controls and processes
Proficiency in PC applications, with ability to develop and apply spreadsheets, database and research tools
Experience with data analytic and data extraction tools, including MS Access databases, SQL, and Microsoft Office Suite (including Visio)
