Position Summary: Responsible for the use of software to program machines to create parts per the given specifications from the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be reliable, cooperative, with high attention to detail, and work well independently and as part of a team.
Ability to read blueprints and interpret bills of materials and routings.
Works from engineered drawings and specifications, uses knowledge of punch machine operations and develops code to control machine operation.
Prepare process plans, include positioning of carriage and/or tool, rate of feed, speed of rotation, tool changes, type of tool, sequence of operations and other variables.
Determines references points and direction of machine cutting paths.
Determine the suitability of a part for automation and the appropriate machine assignments on the basis of efficiency and quality requirements.
Creates instruction sheets and cutting lists to guide setup and operation of the machine.
Writes program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode direct numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting or punching path.
Works directly with machines and machine operators to verify the accuracy and safety of programs.
Observes operation of machine on trial run or simulation to proof programmer instructions.
Strong mathematical skills, reading comprehension, and communication skills.
Monitors work assignments and communicates any concerns with lead.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate’s degree, or equivalent, from a two-year college or technical school, and 2 years of drafting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. SigmaNEST / Cadman software experience a plus.
