What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Owner position at Procede Software?
Procede Software is the leading provider of Dealer Management Solutions for the commercial trucking industry!!! Today, our enterprise dealer management system—Excede—is used by hundreds of dealerships across the United States and Canada to improve their operational efficiency and drive performance across all areas of their business.
The Product Owner will be a key member of our Product team, and key to our agile product and development processes. A Product Owner will work with prospects, customers and internal stakeholders in Development, Product Marketing, Education & Training Services, Professional Services, Quality Assurance, Support and other teams as the owner of Procede products or integrations (with key manufacturers within the heavy truck market). As the owner of specific products, the Product Owner must be prepared to take full responsibility for the success of each product.
The preferred location for this role is San Diego, CA. However, remote applications within the United States will be considered. Local candidates will generally work a minimum of one day in the office per week.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Domain expert capable of highly independent and proactive contribution to the team, helping to continually improve product deliverables.
- Manage specific products with senior Product management from conception to release, in coordination with all internal and external stakeholders, and everything that entails
- Responsible for defining stories and prioritizing the Team Backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components for the team
- Responsible for reporting and/or demoing every milestone to the stakeholders throughout the project.
- Defines and executes go-to-market plan, working to ensure that product management, marketing, and sales have what they need to be successful
- Work within internal agile development processes to ensure quality standards from start to finish, assure customer satisfaction and increase market penetration
- Unit tests and/or assures that product builds satisfy all documented requirements
- Ensure the integrations that you manage provide a good user experience and are easily deployable by the Procede Implementation team and supportable by the Support team to optimize product ROI for Procede and its customers
- Work with documentation writers and the training team to facilitate internal product understanding and customer product education
- Be the expert and evangelist for your products, internally and externally
- Work with product marketing to create product launch plans that ensure all resources required for product success are available and ready to support the new product or product release
- Develop and maintain customer and internal relationships and communication channels to ensure feedback and cooperation with product stakeholders
Desired Qualifications/Skills
- Balance of technical knowledge and business acumen
- Fast learner, with ability to work with technical and non-technical customers and other stakeholders to generate clear, concise product requirements and user stories
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
- Exceptional at gathering product requirements from multiple parties including internal SMEs, prospects and customers, identifying gaps or challenges in product deliverables
- Team player with solid root-cause-analysis skills and a problem-solving orientation; ability to think strategically
- Self-motivation and drive are vital to succeed
- Technical aptitude with the ability to easily talk with software developers about technology implementation strategies
- Ability to travel to prospect or customer sites for market research and/or sales support (up to 15-20%)
- Experience with REST API technologies a plus
- Experience with enterprise or back-office applications a plus
- Formal product management training, including Pragmatic Marketing or agile certifications a plus
- Software development, database admin, SQL or related technical experience a plus
- Experience in automotive or heavy duty commercial dealership markets
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in a technical role with complex B2B software applications, such as product management, systems engineering, information technology or similar
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in technical, business, accounting or related field, preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit at a desk, computer terminal or meeting table for a long period of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to use telephone frequently for a long period of time, and to hear and speak clearly by telephone.
- Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
- Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, partners, or other stakeholders.

Pay: $75,000 - $95,000 per year
