Paraprofessional Job Description
ProFamily is a mental health and social services agency with a heart to serve our community with care and compassion. We believe that as our agency grows, our responsibility to help those who are hurting also grows.
Position will provide a variety of direct preventive and supportive services to families in accordance with the service authorization and/or case plan for the family. Paraprofessional will maintain a vibrant, efficient working environment. Position is a part-time or full-time, hourly contract position and reports to assigned Regional Supervisor.
Paraprofessional Job Duties
- Serves as a positive role-model to the family, responding appropriately to conflicts, problems, and concerns, facilitating open, honest communication and utilizing appropriate problem-solving techniques working towards case plan completion
- Identifies and utilizes family strengths, interests, and needs, providing guidance, encouragement, and support to each family member, as referred
- Instructs and support families in practicing and integrating positive parenting skills base
- Educates and assists in implementation of skills, including, but not limited to, parenting, family life, budgeting, household management, nutrition, job search, accessing community resources, child abuse prevention, and any other skill as referred
- Continually explores new avenues for client resources
- Completes all required documentation in accordance with policy
- Adheres to all HIPAA, DFCS, ProFamily, federal, and state regulations, laws, policies, and procedures
- Maintains professional working relationships and open communication with peers, staff, clients, and community agencies
- Maintains client and agency confidentiality and objectivity
- Complies with ProFamily contract
- Completes and submits all assigned training within allotted time period
- Attends and participates in staff meetings
- Maintains regular communication with admin team and referral sources
- Paraprofessional may also perform transportation and/or drug screen services and will adhere to those job descriptions as applicable
- Any other duties as assigned
Paraprofessional Requirements and Qualifications
- Independent self-starter capable of working with minimal direction
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to handle a dynamic and diverse work load with multiple deadlines
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and computer skills
- Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
- Must submit to and pass background check
- High School Diploma or GED is required, Bachelor’s preferred
- Minimum of five years with high school diploma of relevant experience in social services, mental health, medical office, or customer service experience required
- Minimum of three years with Bachelor’s Degree of relevant experience in social services, mental health, medical office, or customer service experience preferred
