Job Description for General Dentist
- Meeting with patients to discuss and treat specific dental concerns, performing regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establish a plan for improved dental hygiene
- Performing dental procedures such as extractions, root canals, restorative and operative, removable and fixed prosthetics, implant dentistry and orthodontic procedures.
- Correction of occlusal issues.
- Application of chemotherapeutic agents to the teeth such as desensitizes, sealants or bleaches for the purposes of tooth whitening.
- Prescribing medications for dental problems or concerns, such as pain medications, antibiotics, and reduction of inflammation.
- Administration of sedatives, anesthetics, inhalational sedatives, or anti-inflammatories.
- Ordering diagnostic measures such as radiograghs, CT scans, diagnostics photographs and casts.
- Using dental tools or instruments such as dental hand pieces, diagnostic and treatment hand instruments, dental mirrors and brushes used to examine and treat dental diseases or conditions of the oral cavity.
- Keep records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatment related to the care of the patient.
- Managing and communicating with clerical staff, clinical staff and other dental clinicians.
Job Requirements for Dentist
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).
- State License and malpractice insurance.
- Additional experience, certifications, or licensing may be required.
- Willingness to comply with all local, state and federal laws pertaining tothe practice of dentistry
- Maintain membership with National (ADA), state (NYSDA), and local (6th district and BCDS) dental organizations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures, instruments and diagnostics.
- Good management skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Commission
Pay: $100,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
