Location: Hybrid Position – The position will be remote with the ability to come into DOE’s Campus in Germantown, MD, upon request.


Project Enhancement Corporation (PEC), and its team of consulting firms, focus on providing Project Management and specialized technical consulting services in the areas of emergency operations, nuclear incident response, nuclear safety, worker safety and health, quality assurance, environment as well as materials and facilities disposition within the DOE and commercial power industry. The team is comprised of the following firms: PEC, Centaur and MAS, each offering its own comprehensive and competitive compensation and benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Environmental Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) Office of Worker Safety and Health Policy (EHSS-11).
  • Provide support in typing correspondence and/or reports, document distribution, filing, travel arrangements, and other general office duties.
  • Applicant will manage inter- and intra-office incoming and outgoing correspondence and have experience in filing and record management.
  • Assist in tracking status of projects (approximately 60 at any given time).
  • Review work packages to ensure they are complete and conform to proper style requirements.
  • Maintain electronic files in accordance with DOE filing guidelines.
  • Update EHSS correspondence systems (AUCT, eDocs).
  • Review timesheets for accuracy, provide assistance to staff upon request.
  • Review travel requests for accuracy, provide assistance to staff upon request.
  • Collect mail in Germantown (approx. 1 time per month), scan and email to recipient.
  • When requested, provide assistance to other EHSS-10 administrative specialists.

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicant must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in performing and expediting administrative, word processing, and report production support type tasks in a multi-person organization with an emphasis on responsiveness, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Experience in handling classified and sensitive documents, including marking, destruction, and reproduction.
  • Experience in a state-of-the-art software in a Local Area Network (LAN) environment, including word processing, scheduling and calendar software, graphics, spreadsheets, record management and electronic mail.
  • Individual must have experience in managing inter- and intra-office incoming and outgoing correspondence, and have experience in filing and record management. Individual must possess demonstrated interpersonal communications skills necessary to interface with DOE Headquarters and field personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and display complex data.
  • Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel (expert for the Self-Assessment Tool), Teams/WebEx including knowledge of features like polling, recording, etc.
  • Exceptional writing and technical editing skills.
  • Must possess good written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in an environment that changes rapidly, and requires occasional long hours.
  • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter and have the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform work in an office environment, including extensive use of computers.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for a DOE Building Access badge. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a background check for the purposes of maintaining a security clearance will be required as a condition of employment.
  • Ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of illegal substances may also be conducted for continued access to client sites. The candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests will be required as a condition of employment.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of DOE sites and types of operation.
  • Familiarity with DOE program office procedures and tracking systems.
  • Self-directed and able to define and achieve goals with little supervision.
