Job Purpose

If you are looking for a place where you can make a difference in the life of a child, Project Harmony is looking for you. We are seeking an experienced and committed Mental Health Navigator to join our dynamic and innovative organization. This position will work to help children and families connect with mental health services.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Screen referrals for appropriateness for possible therapy options to Children’s Services Mental Health, Connections or a community provider.
  • Match children and families to the appropriate therapy provider using identified matching criteria.
  • Maintain weekly match list, monitor pending matches and communicate updates to internal referral partners. 
  • Maintain communication with families and internal referral source to ensure appropriate match.  
  • Maintain and generate necessary reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with Children’s Services Mental Health staff for screening and referral to various clinical groups as available
  • Document information in client management system.
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of community treatment providers and their availability.
  • Coordinate regular opportunities for new providers to connect through trainings and networking events with response services staff. 
  • Participate in designated program and agency-related meetings on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis to remain informed and make updates and modifications to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other social service program is preferred, or equivalent related experience will be considered. Spanish-speaking applicants encouraged to apply.

Work Experience

  • Two to four years of social work, evidence-based practices, crisis management and/or trauma-informed care experience.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the Omaha mental health and/or child welfare service system and operation.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge, training and experience in a mental health or closely related child/family program setting.
  • Crisis intervention skills.
  • Family engagement skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to relate well to a wide variety of individuals, including referral sources, providers, family members, etc.
  • Excellent organization, time management and decision-making skills.
  • High level of initiative and energy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to resolve conflicts
  • Knowledge of child welfare and mental health community providers.

Other

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Must submit to a thorough criminal history background check.
  • Must have access to a vehicle; possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Position may involve some travel, primarily within the state.
