Position Overview:
The Nurse Manager for Substance Use Treatment Services will assist the Deputy Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing in providing operational and administrative support in Project Renewal’s Support and Connection Center.
This position reports to the Deputy Director of Nursing and Support and Connection Program Director and works closely with milieu, clinical and leadership staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Direct Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care as needed.
- Process admissions and referrals and complete relevant clinical documentation
- Provide patient and community health education.
- Participate in on-call rotation assignments with team of nurses and clinical providers.
- Participate in case conferences, in-services, and consult with nursing and clinical staff about care coordination and discharge planning.
- Provide clinical coverage as directed by Deputy DON, DON or Medical Director.
Operational and Administrative Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the nursing daily operations and administrative duties of the SCC program.
- Provide remote support (ie, “on call”) for clinical staff on a weekly basis.
- Primary liaison for pharmacies and vendors for medication & supply orders.
- Help maintain proper medical/billing/patient-interaction documentation.
- Responsible for inventory of controlled substances and destruction in compliance with NYS/DOH & DEA
- Responsible for training of nursing staff in ECW, Medication Administration & Workflow procedures
- Assist in training of non-medical staff in the proper procedure of medication self-administration.
- Participate in Quality Assurance & Improvement projects as needed.
- Ensure the program is in compliance with required regulatory and Healthcare Department’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain documentation in compliance with agency policies and procedures and knowledgeable of policies and procedures affecting the organization and assists in interpreting or implementing them as necessary.
- Assist in clinic environment checks to assess compliance and inventory of equipment and medications.
- Ensure facility maintenance and cleanliness in compliance with OSHA and OASAS standards.
- Provide education on MOUD as needed to RNs, LPNs and clinical staff
- Provide ongoing health education and support to Nursing staff.
- Support the management of nursing staff schedules, ensuring that all nurses meet their work scheduled hours; plans for nursing vacancies, vacations, FMLA, sick time and any other Nursing coverage needed.
- Support the hiring and onboarding process to fill vacant nursing positions for the substance use treatment programs.
- Support and ensure cross-training of nurses in primary care, psychiatry and substance use treatment services within the Healthcare Department and provide coverage if needed.
- Keep Healthcare Department leadership informed of all issues and developments and provide a thorough, comprehensive, and concise report of the activities, as needed.
Qualifications:
New York State licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
Experience: Work with people who use drugs and/or who are experiencing homelessness is preferred.
Preferred skills:
Communication: Must have excellent oral and listening skills.
Interpersonal skills: Must have ability to communicate well with clients as well as all levels of staff.
Computer skills: Must have knowledge Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
