What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Trainer - Patient Access - Full Time position at ProMedica?
Develops new hire & refresher training for hospital & physician patient registration staff. Performs monitoring of registered accounts against quality standards. Visits hospital and physician locations to meet with patient registration staff.
Accountabilities
1. Oversees and conducts patient registration training in a classroom setting for both newly hired and seasoned employees at a System-Level that perform patient registration functions.
2. Independently visits ProMedica locations that perform patient registration functions to provide one-on-one and/or group education and feedback to staff on quality & areas of focused training that may requires weekend and off-shift. Completes documentation on visits as appropriate.
3. Develops training material pertaining to patient registration including but not limited to general training material, focused training modules with quizzes based on data such as denials, audits, insurance updates, etc. Reviews quiz results and provides results to patient registration management for follow up.
4. Audits patient registration staff on a regular basis and documents results for management and tracking purposes. Provides input to staff Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
5. Works with hospital and physician management on recommendations for preceptors for new hires.
6. Keep management informed on areas of concern based on audits.
7. Assist to develop standardization of policies at a System level.
8. Actively participates in data analysis for root cause determinations on insurance denials, incorrect insurance plan code assignment, etc.
9. Other duties as assigned.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Power Point & Word with the ability to retrieve information from a computer. Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate. Must be able to type 50 words per minute and pass a skills test. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- 3 years of Revenue Cycle experience or a healthcare setting.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to a variety of ProMedica locations.
- Must be able to move about between workstations. Must be able to travel to a variety of ProMedica hospital and physician locations.
