Promising Futures, Inc. is looking for Tutors that will be able to provide non-classroom instruction to service foster children on an individual or group basis. The ideal candidate is someone who is patient and reliable with the ability to work with all grades and subjects.
Job Title/Type: Tutor I is a W2 position
Base Salary: First active 90 days (probationary period) $38,480.00 w/full-time status (40 hours)
Salary: After active 90 days (post-probationary period) $46,800.00 Incentives (salary amount excludes benefits listed below of paid holidays, cellphone reimbursement, mileage
reimbursement, paid time off and etc. ) w/full-time status (40 hours)
Responsibilities:
- Manage and educate students in a non-classroom setting
- Establish academic goals and milestones with students
- Document and communicate progress reports
- Provide constructive feedback for students
- Engage, empower, and communicate effectively, respectfully, and empathetically with children and families from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives
- Develop plans to meet the child’s literacy and tutoring needs
- Recognize and identify the presence of cognitive impairments
- Collaborate with workers in other disciplines and access community resources
- Advocate for the child during Child and Family Team Meetings and Individualized Education Plans conferences
- Tutoring children ages 3-21 years old.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or other related fields
- Ability to build rapport with students
- Sufficient knowledge of core educational subjects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Providers working directly with children shall be knowledgeable about: 1. Child development; 2. Behavior management; 3. Learning disabilities; 4. Possible effects of child abuse and neglect on cognitive functioning; 5. The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and its use in education; 6. Educational resources within the community; 7. Tutoring techniques
Educational Requirements: At least 60 college credits or higher from an accredited university
Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to use private car to transport self and others.
The Employee is responsible for obtaining full coverage automobile insurance coverage.
Must be able to pass all drug tests and background checks
Areas the worker is expected to travel: Marion County & surrounding counties
