Human Resource Specialist
The Human Resources Specialist performs professional-level human resources work and carries out responsibilities in one or more functional areas, such as staffing, employee relations, benefits, employment, and safety. This role carries out administrative work involving the human resources functions and maintains related records; develops and improves policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of HR and Operations.
Essential job responsibilities
- Coordinates new hire process for managing staff including orientation and new hire paperwork
- Handles employment-related inquiries from employees
- Answer employee questions and/or concerns regarding Human Resource policy, procedures, or employee handbook interpretations
- Assist Managers and/or Supervisors with employee inquiries, performance review process, coaching, counseling, and terminations.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended standard processes
- Handle all worker's compensation claims and work-related injuries and accidents.
- Respond to all TWC claims for unemployment benefits and handle TWC Appeals and Tribunal hearings.
- Handles employee leave, such as FMLA, STD, etc.
- Helps coordinate employee recognition programs
- Assist in resolving employee relations issues that present a risk to the organization, instructing or influencing those leading on the issue on the appropriate approach
- Maintain effective communications with all levels of management and staff
- Operate ethically to protect the assets and image of the company
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as per business need
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3 years of Human Resources experience
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Must possess excellent oral, written, presentation and listing skills
- Proficient in office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or Google Suite products
- Collaborative work style and ability to work effectively across departments
- Project Management and Organizational Skills - Following up on project tasks for multiple projects running concurrently; seeing projects through to completion and meeting deadlines with high-quality deliverables.
- Maintain a schedule availability flexible to the business needs
