Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience
- 2 years prior medical records clerk experience and or/ medical front office experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of computers and office equipment
Responsibilities
This is a PART-TIME Remote Position! (Must be located in the Louisville, Ky-Southern Indiana area!)
Pay Rate: $17.50/HR
Medical Records Coordinator Essential Job Functions:
- Process incoming records according to standard procedures, including renaming, splitting files,scanning paper documents, processing external storage devices, categorizing, and uploading recordsto include invoicing and final submission either via fax, mail or email.
- Responds to all requests for medical record information from various requestors including healthcare providers, patients, attorneys, third-party payors, disability, subpoenas, and internalrequestors. All Release of Information must be in accordance with Health Insurance Portability andAccountability Act (HIPAA) federal regulations, state regulations and company policy.
- Access remote Electronic Health Records systems to obtain patient records while adhering toHIPAA regulations and external system rules.
- Perform quality reviews of retrieved medical records to determine completeness and accuracy.
- Completes work within authorized time to assure compliance with departmental standards.
- Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, organizational mission, vision, value statements,standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the codeof ethical behavior.
- Ensure accurate and legible scanning into the system prior to shredding of any documentation.
- Performing other duties to support overall effectiveness of the department.
- Responsible for sorting, collating and processing of incoming and outgoing mail on an as neededbasis to assist Administrative Billing Clerk.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information
