Prospect College is a vocational school located in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C. We are looking for someone to join our team as a Medical Instructor. The ideal candidate would have a medical background as a Doctor or 5 years teaching experience, plus prior teaching experience at the vocational level. At least some teaching experience is required (preferably at the vocational level)
Requirements:
- Doctorate in Medicine
- Minimum 3 years of Allied Health teaching experience
- Strong Clinical Skills (EKG, Phlebotomy, Triage, Injections, Vitals, etc.)
- Experience teaching courses in Electronic Health Record (EHR & EMR), Vocational experience a plus
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong ability to manage classroom and students
- Creativity and flexibility encouraged
- Academic Leadership experience a plus
Our Educational Faculty is responsible for teaching, administering and grading exams, entering attendance and grades into CampusVue, and other duties. Responsibilities may include involvement in off-campus, evening or weekend activities, as well as student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to all school academic and administrative policies and procedures
- Be present in the classroom before and after each scheduled class time for any extra assistance required by the students
- Keep a track of class attendance for every class and bring concerns to the attention of the Student Success Coordinator if necessary.
- Provide each student with a course syllabus that includes course objectives that are stated in terms of student learning outcomes, learning activities to achieve those objectives, method of evaluation, and attendance policy that provides for reasonable absences in case of emergencies and illness.
- Maintain and improve competence in subjects being taught.
- Maintain a professional classroom environment by dressing professionally, prohibiting the consumption of food and beverages during class hours, remaining in the classroom during class hours, and adhering to established break times.
- Prepare tests and quizzes to assess effectively the progress of students at regular intervals in the semester. Evaluate students' work according to departmental standards.
- Enter grades and scores of the students into CampusVue in a timely manner. Attend staff, faculty, and in-service meetings as required by the management.
- Comply with a non-fraternization policy with respect to students.
