About the Role

You will lead a team of staff accountants to ensure client financials are in order and that financial operations are working effectively and efficiently. You will head up an accounting practice that is selective in its clientele and gets paid for execution – not billable hours. You will be supporting the accounting team with advanced issues and processes, and working with our CFO clients in a Controller role. You will havea high amount of autonomy over your tasks and clients, all while working remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery of client financials, monitoring timeliness, quality, and efficiency.
  • Lead the Accounting Department charge in delivering “audit ready” financials for clients
  • Improve internal processes and visibility around:
  • Client communications
  • Client onboarding & clean up
  • Client accounting processes
  • Controller level responsibilities for larger and more advanced clients
  • Improve and maintain client profitability & expansion revenue
  • Available for quarterly in-person meetings in Austin, TX

Qualifications

We believe that attitude and behavior are more important than degrees and pedigrees. While we want you to...

  • Be proficient in QuickBooks Online & Sage Intacct
  • Possess strong organizational and analytical skills,
  • Be detail oriented,
  • Have an advanced understanding of accounting (consolidations, journal entries, deferred revenue, taxes, lease accounting, GAAP etc.)
  • Have an advanced understanding of accounting processes (month end close, supporting schedules, review processes, accounting policies, etc)
  • Possess an intermediate or greater understanding of taxes (payroll taxes, income taxes for individuals and businesses)
  • Have experience creating and implementing accounting SOPs (for us and our clients)
  • Have experience either auditing or being audited, with a clear expectation of what is required to generate GAAP financials for companies
  • Live within a 90 minute radius of Cedar Park, TX
  • Have earned a BS/BA in Accounting (highly preferred)
  • Be a CPA (highly preferred)
  • Have experience in public accounting (highly preferred)
  • Have 5 years of experience in the accounting industry
  • Have 3 years of experience in leading others

Critical Success Factors

  • Action Plan for unprofitable clients developed by day 90
  • Number of clients closing on time at or above 75% after 90 days
  • Leading Accounting Weekly L10 Meeting within 60 days
  • Launch Sage Intacct and “Audit Ready” financials 1/1/2025

Pay & Benefits

We highly value transparency and believe it is a two-way street. We are looking to pay someone $95,000 - $125,000. Where you fall in the range will depend on your prior experience and successes. There is enormous room for growth and opportunities for leadership.
