THE ROLE
The Associate Vice President of Corporate Development drives negotiations from inception to completion and focuses on driving growth, expansion, and strategic initiatives. They are responsible for identifying and executing merger and acquisition (M&A) opportunities, developing strategic partnerships and alliances, conducting market research and analysis, and contributing to the company's strategic planning efforts.
The AVP of Corporate Development plays a crucial role in shaping the company's trajectory and success by identifying opportunities for growth, evaluating potential ventures, conducting due diligence, and overseeing post-merger integration. They require strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, negotiation abilities, and financial acumen to effectively drive the company's corporate development initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Directly lead strategy, partnership curation, and end to end deal and separation planning efforts for major initiatives related to Health 2.0 and Deconstruction.
- Actively develop and maintain the pipeline of relationships with external organizations which Providence may partner with or acquire. This includes developing relationships with other organizations' leadership and corporate development officers and laying the groundwork for broader alliance discussions.
- Drive due diligence of acquisition targets and help lead integration efforts (as required) based on the developed strategies.
- Provide strategic direction to Providence’s partnerships as required, helping drive engagement and alignment across Providence and the partner organizations.
- Support CEO and direct report (COO, CFO, and other C suite) on critical projects and partnerships.
- Support the EVP, Chief Revenue and Growth Officer with engaging internal and external stakeholders, and establish internal credibility regarding corporate development’s goals and strategies (integrating with others where necessary).
- Provide leadership to newly acquired organizations as they accelerate and integrate relevant GTM and ROB activities.
- Support the identification, recruiting, and retention of talent to further expand the Corporate Development function.
- Collaborate with the VP of Corporate Development and the EVP, Chief Revenue and Growth Officer to shape the culture and strategic direction of the Corporate Development team.
- Define and exhibit Providence St. Joseph’s core mission and values including enforcing adherence to in-house policies and high ethical standards.
- Foster a culture of internal innovation and entrepreneurship; launch and sustain an inclusive and supportive working environment; represent Corporate Development within Providence; and manage relationships with external partners, investors, and the public community.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Law, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent education/experience
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Law, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent education/experience (preferred)
- 10 or more years of progressively increasing senior roles, with at least one successful prior Director, role at either a Healthcare, Technology, or Consulting organization
- 5 years of demonstrated success in delivering results in healthcare on operational, strategy, corporate partnerships, acquisitions, or venture topics
- 5 years of background in both healthcare and technology and strategy consulting
- Sound financial management skills
- Effective senior level communications and executive engagement and facilitation skills, including the ability to represent Corporate Development with external stakeholders
- Success in managing a portfolio of business relationships at different stages of maturity both internal to Providence and outside the organization
- Demonstrated success in core partnership development activities, including defining the overarching strategy, managing a pipeline of potential partners, and successful negotiation of complex arrangements
- Strong knowledge of industry dynamics and related technologies within Healthcare, Technologies, and Services industries
