What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oncology Infusion RN position at Providence Health?
Description
The outpatient infusion nurse has knowledge of Oncology, chemotherapy administration, side effects, infusion therapy, blood product administration, pain management, knowledge and skills with port-a-caths and all venous access devices. The infusion nurse applies the nursing process in direct patient care and coordinates the interdisciplinary team to intervene according to assessment findings.

Required Qualifications:
- Nursing degree/diploma.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 3 years of hire or equivalent educ/experience.
- A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN.
- Any previously agreed upon effective date for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in nursing between individual and facility will remain in effect.
- Any collective bargaining contract with specific time frames for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in nursing will supersede the above point and will remain in effect.
- Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis at each facility by the most senior administrative nursing leader in consultation with the Human Resources leader.
- RNs employed prior to 1/1/17 are encouraged to obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in Nursing, but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment.
- California Registered Nurse License upon hire
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
- Current ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider card upon hire, or will obtain within first 4 weeks of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) within 2 years of hire
- 2 years Nursing
- 2 years Oncology experience
