Assistant Radiology Tech - Diagnostic Imaging Department at Providence Seaside Hospital located on the coast in Seaside, Oregon. This position typically works day shift on weekdays.

The Radiology Assistant performs a variety of clerical and patient care duties, including but not limited to: transcription, appointments, filing, ordering clerical supplies, darkroom duties, and transporting patients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Work area is clean, orderly and restocked.
- Telephone, electronic and face-to-face encounters are pleasant and professional.
- Informs supervisor or materials in a timely manner of impending supply shortages prior to the supply item being all used up.
- IS: Demonstrates competency with the use of Cerner, HBOC RIS Star, Logician and Novell as needed for job function:
- Correctly places orders.
- Accessioning.
- Test result entry.
- Dispatch.
- QC.
- Comments.
- Deletions, modifications.
- Charging.
- Review (list reports used and error remediation procedures done).
- Troubleshooting.
- Integrity and compliance:
- Documented attendance at I and C training; and test passed; continued competency and update acknowledgment documented.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all requirements therein.
- Actively seeks needed information (ABN, ICD-9, written orders, etc.) before any test requisitions are processed.
- Has completed CompliStar in a timely manner.
TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Coordinates scheduling patients: answering phones, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining consents and distributing educational material.
- Assists the radiologist and technologist during exams, as requested. Maintains radiation monitor if needed.
- Develops film and makes duplicates as needed. Shows knowledge of film processor and use of teleradiology system.
- Completes patient exam requisitions. Obtains sufficient information for the exam and the radiologist's report.
- Pulls ID cards (if needed) and files to prepare for following work day including the surgery schedule.
- Records charges and enters charges into charge entry system. Involved in charge master updates and 'necessity' and compliance monitoring. Understands and monitors CD-9 coding and CPT coding requirements.
- Reviews charges against log book as charge records are returned from data processing the next day. Able to pull correct data from Rad Star to complete the charging.
- Updates film files and film retrieval systems systematically. Calls attention to needed projects.
- Involved in yearly film purges and special file projects as requested.
- Inventories supplies, monitors and orders supplies as needed. Uses the RSS ordering system efficiently.
- Prepares film envelopes and file folders in a timely manner.
- Prepares the ultrasound room, or other exam rooms as requested.
- Transports patients to and from the department as needed. Uses correct lifting techniques and equipment.
Required Qualifications:
- Coursework/Training: Trained in computer skills and film processing -OR- Trainable in computer skills and film processing
- Current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
